According to reports, Premier League side Newcastle United are allegedly keeping a close tab on AS Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo as they get ready for another season in the top flight of English football.

The former Inter Milan star has caught many attention this season with a couple of impressive performances, notably netting two goals against Portuguese side FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

The Italy Under 21 international joined the Giallorossi at the beginning of this campaign as part of a swap deal with Serie A giant Inter Milan for Belgian star Radja Nainggolan.

Despite his age, Nicolo Zaniolo has been a vital figure for AS Roma and has been linked with a number of other teams across Europe including former Premier League champions Chelsea.

The side has now gathered 34 points with 8 games still to play of the Premier League this season.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss has been highly boosted in the last couple of weeks by the signing of Paraguayan international Miguel Almiron in the winter transfer market.

The forward, who joined Newcastle for a record fee of about £20 million, has brought in an extra spice to the front line and appears to be a worthwhile investment.

Benitez and fans of the club will be hoping that club president Mike Ashley’s huge spending does not end here at Miguel Almiron.
